The International Day of Celebration for Force Free Training and Pet Care

(ICFF) International Celebration for Force Free

Sponsored by The Pet Professional Guild.

As some of you may have read in my previous blogs, I am passionate about dogs. If you have a browse of my other posts you will quickly learn why. I have quite afew reasons. Over my dog owning and grooming career I have been on a personal journey aswell. I learnt to read body language and with that came the skills to see when a dog is shutdown due to fear. The general dog owning population are unaware of physical and emotional damage that some techniques and types equipment inflict on dogs. This is not the fault of anyone, it is simply due to misinformation, myths, absence of science and other trainers whom either don’t see it for what it is or believe it is necessary.

There is some good news though! There are ways to train dogs that don’t inflict physical force or emotional damge. They are proven to work, based on science and create a wonderful lasting bond between dog and human.

On my path to discovering better ways I have become a member of The Pet Professional Guild. The Guild stands for everything I believe and know. The best thing about this way of training, is that, it is both scientifically and morally correct. That ticks all the boxes for me!

So what’s it all about? PPG has a set of guiding principles. They can be found listed in full here, this is a brief summary…

To be in anyway affiliated with the Pet Professional Guild all members must adhere to a strict code of conduct.

Pet Professional Guild Members Understand Force-Free to mean:

No shock, No pain, No choke, No fear, No physical force, No physical moulding, No compulsion based methods are employed to train or care for a pet

Any animal professional or owner can be a member of PPG. I believe PPG’s educational resources, promotion and advocacy of force free training to be the one of the most important things to the well being of animals, especially dogs, to evolve in recent times in the training arena. I’m sure many professional members would agree with me. The Guild is still in its infancy, but is growing every day. I look forward in the years to come as its grows strength and exposure! I am a proud member and also volunteer my time as the leader of the PPG Marketing Committee.

As part of my role on the committee, I need to tell you about an exciting event we have planned! It is the…..
